Account & Authorization
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
This chapter summarizes the most common issues and solutions for GarSync 2.x users.1. Accounts & Authorization
Q: Why are there two Garmin icons? Which one should I choose?
A: Garmin operates two isolated server regions: Garmin China and Garmin Global.
- If you registered with a Chinese mobile number, you likely belong to China. Verify at connect.garmin.cn.
- If you registered via email on the official global site, you belong to Global. Verify at connect.garmin.com.
- Note: Data is not shared between regions. Choosing the wrong icon leads to successful login but no data visibility.
Q: Why does it say "Wrong Password" when I use my mobile number + password?
A: While the website allows mobile numbers, GarSync requires your **Email + Password** for authorization.
Q: Login failed during authorization. How to fix?
A: We strongly recommend logging in once via a web browser first.
- This verifies your credentials and ensures no pending requirements (like binding a phone number or initial setup).
- Log in, go to Settings - Privacy Settings - Data, and ensure "Allow Data Storage and Upload" is enabled.
Q: Where is my MFA (Verification Code)?
A: For security, Garmin sends 2FA codes to your registered **Email**. Please check your inbox.
Q: Logged in, but sync isn't moving or shows Error 412?
A: Usually two causes:
- Cause 1: Incorrect region for Global accounts (very common).
- Cause 2: Data storage permission not granted. You must log in via web and enable "Allow storage and upload" under Privacy Settings.
Q: What do errors 401, 412, and 429 mean?
A: 401: Unauthorized (session expired). 412: Precondition failed (missing permissions). 429: Too many requests (rate limited).
Solutions:- 401: Re-login via: Explore > Account Management > Platform > Re-login.
- 412: Login via web (Connect China or Global) and enable data storage/upload in Privacy Settings.
- 429: Server busy. Wait 5-10 minutes. If it persists, ensure your profile (birthday, region) is fully set on the website.
Q: Do you support Huawei Health?
A: We currently only support importing offline data packets. Direct account sync is not supported as Huawei has not approved our write-access request.
To migrate your data:
- Official Export: Visit the Huawei Privacy Center (privacy.consumer.huawei.com/tool), log in, and request your data copy.
- Extract the zip (usually password-protected) on a PC first.
- Re-compress it into a standard
.zip(without password). - Use the Import Data feature in GarSync's Discovery page to upload it.
Q: Does GarSync support Apple HealthKit?
A: Yes. You can sync data from/to HealthKit.
- Many apps write only summaries to HealthKit without heart rate or track details. GarSync ignores these low-quality records by default to maintain data integrity.
- We do not recommend HealthKit as a long-term storage for thousands of activities, as it adds no significant value and increases cloud storage demands.
- Recommendation: HealthKit is an excellent "data hub" for health metrics. For example, body fat scale data from Huawei or Xiaomi is often written to HealthKit automatically. You can then use GarSync to sync this weight and body fat data to other platforms like Garmin or Intervals.icu. This is particularly useful for calculating your Power-to-Weight ratio (W/kg).
